A multilingual website for holiday rentals: how to get direct bookings
· 2 min read · The Isla IA team
If you have apartments in the south of Tenerife, in Puerto de la Cruz or in Corralejo, almost all your bookings probably come through platforms. They work, but every booking pays a sizeable commission and the guest "belongs" to the platform. Your own website doesn't replace Booking.com: it complements it and lets you earn more from the same guests.
Why your own website
- Returning guests. Someone who stayed with you and was happy will come back if they know how to book with you directly.
- Better margins. Even if you offer a small discount for booking direct, you still earn more.
- Trust. Many travellers search for your name on Google after seeing you on a platform. If they find a well-made website, they book with you.
- Your brand. Photos, texts and conditions your way.
The languages you really need
In the Canaries the minimum is Spanish and English. Depending on your area and your guests, German makes the difference (very present in the south of Gran Canaria, La Palma or the north of Tenerife), and French, Italian or Dutch may also be worth adding. What matters is that each language has:
- Natural texts, not an unchecked machine translation.
- Its own address (for example,
/en/or/de/) so Google shows it in each country. - The conditions, price and cancellation policy clearly set out in that language.
What a holiday rental website should have
- Big, real photos, in natural light, with a clear tour: living room, bedrooms, bathroom, terrace, views, area.
- An availability calendar synced with your platforms to avoid double bookings.
- A guide price and a button to book or ask on WhatsApp.
- Your tourist registration number on show, as Canary Islands holiday rental rules require.
- Location and things to do nearby: beaches, restaurants, walks. It helps both SEO and your guests.
- Guest reviews, with their permission.
- Legal texts (legal notice, privacy, cookies) and secure payment if you take payments online.
An assistant that replies at night
Many enquiries arrive at night or from other time zones. An AI assistant on your website or on WhatsApp replies straight away about availability, arrival, parking or pets, in the guest's language, and passes bookings on to you to confirm.
How to start without complications
You don't need a huge website. A good page per property, in two or three languages, with photos, availability and a WhatsApp button already makes the difference. Later you can add booking with online payment.
The Presence + Clients package includes a fully custom website, interactive content, local SEO, Instagram with 9 posts a month and a blog with 9 articles a month. If you like, we'll prepare a mock-up with photos of your property so you can see how it would look.
